I'm still at the same company I started with in late 1998. This year I will celebrate 10 years with them! I'm married (since 2000) with 2 kids - a boy who's 6 and a little girl who will be 4 this summer.
I went to college and decided it wasn't for me. I went to school for dental assisting and plan to get a BS in Dental Hygene. I just got married May 26, 2007. No children yet, unless you count my 3 fur babies. Maybe kids this time next year. ~Tammy Krompic (fowler)
After graduation, I attended UIC from 1998 - 2003. I graduated with a degree in marketing and management and minored in entrepreneurial studies...(it's a mouthful). I worked in Chicago for a while and then an opportunity presented itself in Schaumburg. The last thing I wanted was to move back to the town I grew up in, but here I am. I moved back in 2005 and it's been going well. My boyfriend proposed last month and we are planning a June wedding. I am so excited.
What makes this story hilarious is that he is Tammy Fowler's cousin (never knew that until after we dated for a while). So, Tammy and I will be related in just a few short months.
I work in Schaumburg at the American Veterinary Medical Association as the Marketing Manager. I travel a bunch for work and have trips coming up.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'm not out of town when we schedule our reunion.
Hello all, I ended up going to Southern Illinois University for a year then moved out to Maryland and finished with a BA in History from Towson University in Towson, Marylan_d. The whole history thing didn't work out too well so I just got finished with nursing school and am working at a local hospital. My plan is to be working in the intensive care unit within one year. Other than that, I just bought a house in downtown Baltimore and no marriage or kids as of yet.- Derek Eckenrode.....DerekEckenrode@hotmail.com
If I tell this story now, does that mean I won't have to re-hash it at the reunion? Keep notes, there will be a quiz when we meet up face-to-face ;)
After high school I jetted back out to NY to follow my family after my dad got relocated back to NYC. I knocked out 2 years of college still wanting to be a History teacher but caught the snowboarding bug that first winter. I started racing boardercross out east and picked up a few small sponsorships with local shops. I decided to spread my wings and head out west (young man, west!). I talked Nick Hnatiw into joining me and we lived out there for a few years. If you've never been to Boulder, CO, I highly recommend it.
A good couple years of riding, working, playing, drinking and all around tom-foolery in the Boulder/Breckenridge/Vail area and I'd had enough. During this time, I had gotten into the up and coming IT scene, mostly in regards to network security (2600? anyone? no, then lets move on).
So I'm back to the East Coast with the mission of getting my (4 year) college degree finished and starting life in what older people refer to as the "real world". By that time I'd grown accustomed to the words "you slacker" tagged to the end of the sentance. I knock out my Bachelors in Network Administration and another in Network Security at a state school in NY. It's here I meet my soon to be wife and another round of riding, working, playing, drinking and all around tom-foolery ensues. I graduted in May 2006, we get married in June and chill out in the Syracuse area for a bit.
I get a call from a consulting firm in Washington, DC one day, do the whole dog and pony show and end up moving down to the DC area. So here I am. I've moved on from that firm and am now the IT Director for an IT consulting and management firm in DC. No kids just yet, just got a house, so no need to rush things.
That's my backstory since SHS and I'm sticking to it.
I work at Great Lakes Naval Base, doing admin work, and although it's not what I want to do forever, I actually really like it for now. I've been doing that for about 4 1/2 years now. Before that, I worked in military recreation for about 3 years.
I lived in Virginia and Italy, and now I'm back in Chicagoland. I did some college here and there with The University of Maryland Europe, but I never really knew what I wanted to be when I grew up until I was 25 years old. So ever since then I've been pursuing my nursing degree. I'd like to think that someday I'll actually have it! I'm a much better college student than I was in high school, I'm proud to say, lol!
For now, my biggest priority is my family. I have a beautiful 9-year-old daughter and an absolutely wonderful hubby who I have been married to for 3 1/2 years now. :)
I really am glad to hear how you all are doing, and it sounds like everyone is pretty well. (Hi Brian!!!) I hope to see you all at the reunion!
I left Schaumburg for Iowa where I got my bachelor's at Drake University. My father who raised me passed away in 2000, so I went to live full time in Iowa. I got recruited by Hallmark Cards designing greeting cards and marketing materials and spent 3.5 years in Kansas City, MO. In 2005 I moved to Dallas/Fort Worth TX and became a senior designer at an agency. I started graduate school also in 2005 through Syracuse University's Independent Study degree program where I travel all over the world. I have one more trip to London, Amsterdam and Berlin this May and then I graduate the first week in August in New York City. A little over a year ago I met my fiance Kevin and we're planning on getting married in April 2009 in Pittsburgh. My new last name will be Lewis :) and I'm still best friends with Heather Blondin, no matter how many years it's been or how far I seem to live from her, she's my best friend for life!
I ended up going to UIC and majored in Communications and double minored in French and International Studies. During my time at UIC, I also spent a semester abroad in Paris, which was a fantastic central location to travel around Europe.
After graduation in 2002, I had the privilege of attempting to join the workforce as everyone had hiring freezes. Oh the joy! In 2003 I began a job with a German company and I have been with them ever since moving my way up. I am now in charge of the marketing for North and South America and I also handle all of the accounting for my division. I got married in 2006 and we live in Streamwood, IL with our permapup Benni. He's a dachshund/shih tzu mix and is only 8 pounds.
Good to see everyone else is doing well and I look forward to seeing you all again in the fall.
Feel free to e-mail me: heathernatal@gmail.com if you need help in organizing this reunion. I have a few contacts with area hotels (although not the Renaissance) from my job.
I graduated from Northern Illinois University in 2002, and began teaching first grade at Armstrong Elementary School in District #54. I got married to Todd Grischow (also class of '98) in December 2003! After teaching for four years, we had our first baby and I became a Stay at Home Mommy, which I love! Our little boy Payton is now 18 months old! We live in Schaumburg now, and are only a few streets away from SHS! ~Jennifer (Howard) Grischow
I went to ISU for 2 years and really didn't like it so I went to Harper for a little while.
July of 2000 took a trip to the Bahamas where I happened to meet my future husband. He is in the Air Force currently deployed to the land of the sand. I haven't seen him since August of 2007 and he will finally be home sometime in April.
We have been married for almost 6 years. I have lived in Idaho (for 4 years)and now I currently reside in Okinawa, Japan. We don't have any kids yet just 1 spoiled German Sheppard/Husky named Sasha.
I work at the day care center on base, I am still going to school and still planning on being a teacher. ~ Elizabeth (Zingerle) Fortuna
After graduating high school a year early,(orginally class of 1999) I went straight into the Marine Corps. I spent five years in the Marine Corps seeing the world. Three deployments later and a 6-month tour in Iraq, I got out. Once getting back from Iraq, I married Jennifer Howard. Jennifer and I had our first son, Payton, 18 months ago. Jennifer stays at home with Payton, and I recently changed jobs to Siemens Medical, where I now work on ultrasound machines in hospitals and doctor's offices.
I went to U of Illinois and graduated in 2002 with a BFA in Fine Arts - Painting. After a summer of laying around Schaumburg, I joined the Army as a Multimedia Illustrator. I'm currently at Ft. Bragg, NC working a Psychological Operations unit, but have spent a over a year in Korea, 15 months in Iraq and a few other places. I'm getting out in the September - November time frame and then its time to find a "real" job or at least a real job in the federal government if all goes well.
I got married in the Fall of 2005, but no kids yet
After graduation I attended Harper College and graduated with associates degree in Nursing in '01.After officially becoming a RN I began working at a hospital. I went to U of Iowa and graduated in 2003 with a degree in Elementary Ed. and have taught 6th and 5th grade in Palatine ever since. I got married to a fellow band geek from the U of Iowa and we had a baby girl (Delila Rose) November 1 of 2007. We also have a crazy little Italian Greyhound and I am back in school getting my masters as a reading specialist. In general, pretty busy as of recently!
I have spent the years after high school working for various companies across the country. I spent four years working for Hyatt Hotels in Illinois, California, and Missouri. I took a 2 year break from the hotel life to be the Operations Manager for Millennium Park in Chicago. I am currently a manager at Pete Miller's in Wheeling. I have a 9 year old son and not married. Hello everyone, Michael Chi
I graduated from NIU in 2003 with a major in math, a minor in political science, a teaching certificate, and a lot of credits in dance. I just finished my dance minor, and I am halfway through my masters in special ed. I've been teaching math and coaching the hop hop dance team at Glenbrook South High School since graduation, and it's awesome, but ridiculously stressful. I have danced with a few different groups since high school and I am currently trying to improve my breakdancing, but the school dance group absorbs most of my time.
No kids yet, just my pup Jack. I have plenty of kids to worry about at school...
I am currently working in HR for a Media Intelligence Company in Chicago. I live in Lakemoor, IL with my husband and our dog, Misty. I have been married since August 2, 2005.
