VENUE OPTION - John Barleycorn Schaumburg

Thanks to Rupa for tracking down the info:

Here are all of the prices you need for John Barleycorn in Schaumburg. Sorry, it took me so long to get back to you. The Schaumburg location does not open until February 28 and therefore it was kind of difficult getting a hold of someone to help.

Some cool things about the bar that I would like to point out include:
-two levels: level 1 is the restaurant; level 2 is the private dance/party room
-maximum capacity is 1,000 people
-If we reserve the second floor, it can be ours privately until 10:30; after that, it will be open to the public.
-If we have it on a Saturday, there will be a famous dj there starting at 10:30. This might be fun after our shin-dig is over. We do not have to pay an extra charge to join the party at Barleycorn after our event.

Liquor Package: $30 per person
All Bottled Beer & Draft Beer
Call Liquor –Captain Morgan’s, Jim Beam, Jack Daniels, Sauza, Bombay Sapphire, VO, Canadian Club, Seagram’s 7, Southern Comfort, Dewars, Tanqueray, Jameson, All Stoli flavors, All Absolute and all Bacardi
Food Package: $10.95 per person
Please choose three of the following for a 2 hour duration.
Miniature Corndogs with Mustard dipping sauces
Cheese and onion quesadillas salsa and sour cream
Miniature Italian Beef Sandwiches
Boneless Chicken Strips with Zesty Dipping sauce
Vegetable Crudite
Chips and Salsas
Nachos Grande - with all the fixin’s
Italian Sausage and Pepper sandwiches

It also looks like there are sit-down dinner packages available; those run from $25 to $60 per person. Not sure if that includes drinks.

I think we should take a field trip here after it opens.

I hate to be a pain - but when may we figure out a date? I see that September won on the poll and my entire family is planning a trip to Disney World for September of this year, which we'll likely be booking next month. I'd hate to miss out on the reunion!!!!!! The sooner we know a date, the better, because I can try to work the WDW trip around it then.

I agree...we should settle on a date within the next few weeks once all of the pricing comes in.

However, I am still a little concerned about us planning this event when we haven't spoken to those people who were supposed to be in charge of it. I would definitely feel more comfortable moving forward with this reunion once we speak to those who were put in charge of it. Has anyone found out who those people are?

I agree with Sarah on the whole September thing. I have some business trips that I cannot get out of that month. I voted for August! =)

We will need to finalize a venue first and see which weekends they have space available for all of us. Counting spouses/significant others for everyone in our graduating class, we are talking of about 800-1,000 people.

I agree, because August is no good for me! Anniversary, we always go away, and I have a 5 day conference that month that I wouldn't want to miss. So it would be great to know who the people are who are supposed to be running this thing!

I understand your point, Rupa - thing is, we're way behind on this. My wife is on the committee for the Palatine reunion, and they already have a place reserved, address labels printed, fundraising, etc.

Let's compare prices and venues to see what's affordable and go from there. I am still waiting on pricing from the convention center. Let's finalize a venue within the next week or so and go from there. Sound good?

I was on the executive board for the Senior Class Club, but there is nothing in place for the reunion so far. That's why this website is perfect.....we can see what everyone wants to do and go from there. So, as soon as we get the pricing, we can pick the date and start planning. I'll be happy to help.

*To rpatad1: Don't worry about who was supposed to handle the event~ I was jr/sr class president and Mrs. Myers said that any of us in senior class would help plan this, so I think it's cool that we are collaborating through the blog. :)
